Senior AI engineer / PhD
Building useful
AI systems.
I'm George, an AI engineer with a background in speech and multimodal learning. I now work on building automation at Honeywell. I enjoy understanding a problem, working through the constraints, and building something useful.

Xperi Edge AI 2021 — 2024
Speech recognition on a 100 mW processor
An end-to-end speech recognition engine for the Ergo edge processor, decoding in real time with a fixed one-second delay.

AV Align: learning to see speech
Cross-modal attention for speech recognition, developed during my PhD to learn how sound and lip movement fit together.
How I like to work
Understand the problem.
Work with the people.
I've worked in research, product development, and customer support. Those roles have made me more interested in what people are trying to do, and in whether the software actually helps them do it.
That’s what draws me to forward deployed engineering.

You’ll often find me out with Bray Runners, at the local parkrun, or with a non-fiction book. I like learning things that change how I see the world.

I'm interested in forward deployed engineering roles where I can work directly with customers and take a problem through to implementation.
